Welcome to Qingdao Export Processing Zone

Qingdao Export Processing Zone (QDEPZ) is a State-level industrial park, located in Chengyang District. QDEPZ's establishment was approved by the State Council in March 20003 and has been put into operation since March 2004. The total area of QDEPZ is 2.8 square kilometers. QDEPZ is responsible for the Land Use Certificate, which will expire after 50 years.

QDEPZ is 19 kilometers, 33 kilometers and 36 kilometers to Qingdao Liuting Airport, Qingdao Port and Qianwan Port respectively.

QDEPZ is a bonded area (and therefore considered outside of China's customs territory in terms of import tax) thus goods going into QDEPZ from overseas are not subject to VAT, customs duty, or consumption taxes. The domestically purchased goods are regarded as an export, and the goods can enjoy VAT refund upon entry. Companies in the zone can also enjoy VAT refund for water, electricity and natural gas.

Industries such as the IT industry, precision machinery, new-type materials and bonded logistics have priority to enter QDEPZ. Since QDEPZ has the bonded logistic function, it aims to integrate export processing, international trade, logistics, and port operations, such as importation of processed goods, international transfer & consolidation, international procurement, bonded DC for domestic distribution.

By June 2008, 49 foreign companies and 11 domestic companies have settled in QDEPZ. Twenty nine of them have been put into operation with more than 7000 staff totally. Investors come from many different countries and areas, such as America, Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sweden, Malaysia, Taiwan area, and Hong Kong. Andreas Stihl Power Tools Company, from Germany, a leading company of its sector in the world, produces chainsaws, brush cutter, and blowers. Tyco Electronic from America produces electronic connectors. Yanmar Engine Company from Japan produces agricultural use engines.
