This is the largest park in Qingdao. It holds, periodically-particularly
around national holidays, fantastic colourful displays attracting
visitors. Within the park there is a small zoo, there’s a lion, a tiger,
and many more. During the peak period they provide bird and dog
shows. There are also fun rides for the young and those liking more
speed! You may also find a chairlift to another part of the park, a
botanical garden and more garden area to stroll around. Drink and
snack stands allow you to spend hours here. There is a small fee to
enter, about 20 rmb for the main park. Rides and the zoo are extra.
You can approach this by car or on foot from the north side of
Zhongshan Park. Once you have entered the tower, which is 348
meters above sea level, you will find different platforms. The
highest level is a circular viewpoint, giving you the chance to walk
around and see Qingdao at all angles. At a level below you may step
out on to a safe balcony or eat in the rotating restaurant. There is
a small fee to pay upon entering the whole tower.
Located on Laoshan Road, very close to the sea, you will find this
interesting garden. It spreads up and around a few hills, the peak
being high, with a choice of paths. Follow a path to enjoy the
shrubs and different foliage on the oriental trees. There is a
traditional teahouse and the chance to buy ice creams. There are
pagodas and seating areas to allow you to take your time. Make
your way to the peak and enjoy the sea view. There’s a small
entrance fee of 20 rmb.
This is a very attractive beach backed by the trees within the
Badaguan area. This beach has a small entrance fee, but
consequently it is maintained well, kept clean and there are
showers plus changing rooms. You can hire beach umbrellas,
inflatable and beach chairs. It is fairly quiet and suitable for
families.
This is a very large beach offering many water sports, such as
floating tandem cycles; jet skis, parasailing over the sea, wind
surfing and speedboats. It is a very popular beach, attracting huge
crowds. Shower facilities and changing rooms are available, plus
the usual beach chairs for hire. There’s plenty of opportunity to
buy drinks and snacks.
Made famous for being on the label of Tsingdao Beer, this old pier
stretches out to sea and is accessible from the pavement along
number 6 Beach.
Just to the east of Qingdao Pier you may find this ancient temple.
After paying a small fee, you may step inside to feel the peace and
essence of their beliefs. There is a large wishing tree, where you
may tie a ribbon and make a wish. Incense sticks are available for
visitors and the chance to pay respect to the images. Often there
are local arts and crafts on view in small side stalls.
Here are housed several bottle-nosed North Pacific dolphins,
Californian sea lions, and harbour seals. They can perform 20
wonderful programs under good training. It is located at 60
Donghai East Road, tel: 8588-2373. You can take bus 317 along
the coastal road. There are 4 shows a day during July and August,
at 9.40am, 11.00am, 2.00pm and 4.00pm. Tickets cost 50rmb.
This is located on the Laoshan Road, about 20 minutes from Surf
Plaza, in the valley of Dadou Ravine. Cherishing animals and
encouraging protection of the environment are the key purposes
to this park. Animal performances are often held here. The
children can enjoy huge dinosaur modelsbv, with unusual
man-made trees recreating a prehistoric style. Located at 281
Laoshan Road, tel: 8881-2999. You can reach it by bus 104, 113,
301 and 304. The opening hours are 8.30am - 4.30pm, with
tickets costing 30 rmb during the summer.
This attraction is close to number 1 beach, on No.1 Laiyang Road.
The buildings cover 7,300 squared meters with a total water mass
of 4,000 tons. Inside there are several hundreds of different
marine species, all culminating in a large quantity, too. They are
created interesting routes around and a moving person’s conveyor
belt through a tunnel, offering full close up views of fish.
